Here’s an idea we like for St. Patrick’s Day: Taking the kids to see the Phoenix area’s most famous fountain turn emerald green.

It’s part of Fountain Hills’ St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Going on 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Fountain Park, you’ll find Irish music, corned beef and cabbage, and a beer garden.

The fountain is a local landmark that shoots water straight into the air, to a maximum height of 560 or so feet, once per hour. It will turn green at noon on St. Patrick’s Day.

Fountain Park is at 12925 N. Saguaro Boulevard. For information, call (480) 837-1654 or go to www.fh.az.gov/.
