Smith, Jones in final push, Ducey not campaigning

Candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Arizona governor spent the final day before the primary election holding rallies at gun ranges, restaurants, and other businesses.

Former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith had three events with Gov. Jan Brewer Monday as she tries to boost support for the candidate she is backing. Former GoDaddy executive Christine Jones is campaigning at a gun store in Mesa, and former California congressman Frank Riggs is at a Dewey gun range.

Secretary of State Ken Bennett scheduled a final campaign event Monday evening at a Flagstaff restaurant.

State Treasurer Doug Ducey was not on the campaign trail, instead holding private meetings and conducting treasurer business.

The winner of Tuesday's primary faces Democrat Fred DuVal in November. He's running unopposed in the primary.
