The run-of-the-mill pub crawl will take a backseat Saturday to a higher class of booze-fueled shambling.

Vino fans are invited to sip their way along the Metro light-rail line during the fourth Urban Wine Walk, an event of the Downtown Phoenix Partnership.

Seventeen restaurants along the 20-mile route will offer 2- to 3-ounce glasses of wine and, in most cases, a snack for $2-$4 per person. A map of participating eateries — and light-rail stations — is available at www.downtownphoenix.com/winewalk

Among the stops are Tempe’s Caffe Boa and My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. The Arrogant Butcher in Phoenix will serve bruschetta and antipasto with its chardonnay, riesling and cabernet samples, and Nobuo at Teeter House will offer sesame-scallion focaccia alongside its wine selections. Free gift bags are available — while supplies last — at Phoenix Public Market, where three Arizona wines will be on the tasting menu.

Organizers recommend going early for the best chance of scoring a gift bag and to avoid “the 4 p.m. rush” they’ve seen on previous wine walks.

All-day Metro passes ($3.50) are available from fare vending machines at all light-rail platforms and stations.
