There are some new faces at Phoenix Zoo.

The park has acquired two Patagonian cavies, two red-rumped agoutis and two Chinese alligators from the recently closed Las Vegas Zoo.

Chinese alligators are rare, critically endangered and protected, with fewer than 200 remaining in their native habitat. The only living alligator species other than the American alligator, it’s smaller — ranging from 5 to 6 feet long, whereas American alligators easily exceed 10 feet in length.
