The newly renovated Wigwam resort is taking over the dog days of summer with three months of summer fun, deals and interactive experiences, starting with a patriotic fireworks show for resort guests on Memorial Day weekend.
Celebrating the start of the summer action, Memorial Day weekend at The Wigwam focuses on Olympic-style fun in the sun. On Friday, guests can sign up for summer games taking place Saturday and Sunday. From 60-second challenges to “name that tune” and ice block relays, guests can accumulate points during each activity culminating with an awards ceremony. On Saturday, a patriotic salute to the troops fireworks show will light up the night and pay homage to the men and women in the armed forces.
On Sunday, the public and guests are invited to join Blue Star Moms at The Wigwam Farmer’s Market from 7-11 a.m. as they make “Star Spangled Care Packages” for the troops. Members of Luke Air Force Base will entertain with interactive military demonstrations including bomb squad robots, a military Humvee and fighter pilot meet and greets from 9-11 a.m. On Memorial Day, the Wigwam will participate in the nationwide “National Moment of Remembrance” and host a moment of silence at 3 p.m. to remember and respect our country’s fallen soldiers.
The Wigwam is at 300 E. Wigwam Blvd., Litchfield Park. For information and room rates, call 623-935-3811 or visit www.wigwamarizona.com.
