In 1971, 23-year-old Eric Hauenstein co-founded KDKB (93.3 FM) in Mesa.
Ruby Cheeks, veteran DJ at KDKB (93.3-FM) has been with the station for 10 years and can be heard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday. From 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday, Cheeks broadcast the station’s popular public service program, “Valley Focus."
“Neander” Paul Marshall, program director for KDKB (93.3-FM) can be heard from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Here, Marshall is holding hand-written song playlists from the early 1970s as the station is preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary on Aug. 23.
Radio personality Bill Compton, often remembered as the “architect” of KDKB, was given free reign to play the music listeners came to love.
