Creative Stages Youth Theatre brings the classic tale of ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ to life on stage Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 3 and 7 p.m. beginning Friday through April 21.

Creative Stages is an award-winning theater known for its creative takes on classic tales.

Jim Gradillas, artistic director, has penned many of the 3-year-old theater’s plays. However, Gradillas approached a former student, Brienna Horacek, who choreographs for the company, to pen this adaptation of “Tortoise and the Hare.”

“Brienna has great talent in writing youth theater,” Gradillas said. “She is very creative. This is such a wonderful family event,”

Join Timmy Tortoise and Harry Hare as they prepare for the great race. The story centers on the relationships surrounding the famed Tortoise and Hare. You think your family life is complicated? Try being Harry Hare in a family of “winners” that keeps growing as the show goes on. Things really get complicated when Harry’s sister, Harriet Hare, has a crush on your opponent, Timmy Tortoise.

Mix in a cast of wacky high school friends and foes and the annual Weeping Willow High School Field Day becomes a hilarious tale for audiences of all ages.

Tickets, $12, are available online at www.csyt.org.
