Broadway’s longest-running show, “Phantom of the Opera,” comes alive on Eight, Arizona PBS in an all-star extravaganza marking the 25th anniversary of this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical production. The show airs at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Staged in the sumptuous Victorian splendor of London’s Royal Albert Hall, the program pays tribute to the enduring popularity of “Phantom” with a cast and orchestra of more than 200 including special guest appearances. Past Phantoms join forces to perform a powerful “Music of the Night” and other favorite songs.

The “Phantom of the Opera” first opened in 1986 at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London and is based on the French novel “Le Fantôme de l’Opéra.” It tells the story of a horribly disfigured Phantom, once a promising musician, who now terrorizes the Paris Opera House as he is falling in love with a young opera star, Christine Daaé. The show has been seen in 145 cities in 27 countries, played to more than 130 million people and won more than 50 major theater awards, including seven Tonys and three Olivier Awards in the West End. It is currently showing in London, New York, Budapest, Las Vegas and Kyoto. In 2006, it became Broadway’s longest-running production.
