Jesse James of West Coast Choppers and Monster Garage fame recently came to use the race track at Speedworld Off-Road Park.

Piloting both a Pro 2 and Pro 4 race truck, supplied by local race team owner Craig Potts of Potts Racing, James was merely “getting a feel” for the vehicles.

No stranger to off-road racing, (James has competed in desert races for over 15 years) he has plans to race with the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series next year.

“I just need to get as much seat time as possible before the 2011 season starts”, James said. “It’s going to take a while to get up to speed in this type of off-road truck. I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to be competitive at the very first race next year. I want to come out strong and let the other drivers and race teams know I’m serious about winning.”

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series returns to Speedworld Off Road Park for two events in 2011: April 15-17 and Sept. 23-25.

Speedworld is the premiere short course racing facility in the Southwest. Built in 2009, track features include high berm left and right corners, two front straight-away jumps, an 80 MPH left hand sweeper and a one-of-a-kind section that is rapidly becoming known as “the Moguls."

Speedworld is on Jomax Road west of Grand Avenue. For information, visit
