Did you catch Sunday’s unveiling of the Best of East Valley 2012 award winners?

Readers — you guys — nominated and voted for winners in tons of categories, from places to eat, drink and see a show, to where to get the best haircut, auto repair deal and pet sitter.

Winners are posted online at www.EastValleyTribune.com/BestOf, so you can look them up now — or all year long, when you find you need a place to host your kid’s birthday party or a new dentist.

Around here, “Best Of” is an exciting time. We learn so much about you guys from the people, places and things you vote into the top. I won’t say there aren’t surprises (Last year, Red Lobster took Best Seafood Restaurant), but for the most part, readers seem to be connoisseurs of la vida local, plugged into the businesses, venues and personalities that make living in the EV different from any place else in the country.

If you’re new to the area or just needing a fresh take on what’s to love about living here, check out the website. It’s full of ideas for fun, from readers’ choice for Best Brew Pub (SanTan Brewing Co. in Chandler) to the Best Place to Tire Out Your Kids (Superstition Farm in Mesa).

And be sure to get out there and experience all there is to do here; Best Of East Valley 2013 will be here before you know it, and your votes might make the difference for someone like Sam Clark, now the East Valley’s official Best Coffeehouse Barista (He’s at Lo-Fi Coffee in downtown Mesa). Kudos, Sam, and all you other worthy winners out there.

And thanks to all of you who voted like crazy to give your favorites a little well-deserved recognition.
