The Grill Wrap Café, northeast of 48th Street and Chandler Boulevard in Ahwatukee Foothills, closed this week despite having just issued a press release announcing its one-year anniversary.
The Mediterranean-themed restaurant, whose menu featured items such as shish kabobs and pita wraps, sits next door to The CoffeeBuzz, which also closed last month after a five-year run.
Grill Wrap Café owner Moe Norouzi could not be reached for comment, but the building's landlord had inserted a mechanism into the business' front door lock that prevented it from being unlocked with a key. Neighboring tenants said there was no announcement of a closure; the restaurant simply failed to open last week.
