Several portions of Interstate 10 near downtown Phoenix will close this weekend due to scheduled maintenance on the Deck Park Tunnel.

From Jan. 10 through Jan. 14, sections of the freeway will shutdown mostly during evening hours for repair reasons, and the Arizona Department of Transportation recommends people take detours to avoid the road work.

Eastbound I-10 between Interstate 17 and Seventh Street will close from 9 p.m. on Jan. 10 through 9 a.m. Jan. 11. Traffic will detour along southbound 1-17 starting at the Stack interchange and can get back on I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport.

Westbound I-10 between the I-17 Split near Sky Harbor and Seventh Avenue will close from 9 p.m. on Jan. 11 through 9 a.m. on Jan. 12. Drivers can avoid it by taking northbound I-17 and reconnect with I-10 at the Stack interchange north of Van Buren Street.

Additional road work will alter the driving plans for East Valley motorists as well. The southbound Loop 202 in east Mesa will narrow to one lane between University Drive and Guadalupe Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 11. Similarly, the northbound Loop 202 will narrow to a lane between Guadalupe Road and University Drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 12.

The westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10 in Tempe will close from 9 p.m. on Jan. 12 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 13. Drivers can exit westbound US 60 to Priest Drive and take Baseline Road west to reach the eastbound I-10.
