The NCAA baseball Super Regional gets underway this weekend and two area players are one step away from the College World Series.

Kevin Cron, a Mountain Pointe graduate, and the Texas Christian Horned Frogs are in Los Angeles to take on UCLA in a best-of-three series starting Friday.

TCU lost its first game of the regionals last week but won four straight to win it.

Cron was named to the all-tournament team after hitting .250 (5 for 20) with six runs, three home runs and eight RBIs.

Shaun Chase, a Desert Vista graduate, and the Oregon Ducks went 3-0 in regional play and take on Kent State starting Saturday.

Here is a link to the story on how their regular seasons went.
