The East Valley Tribune and the Ahwatukee Foothills News won several awards for advertising excellence.

Advertisers and designers from the two publications finished in the top three in the Arizona Newspapers Association’s annual Excellence in Advertising competition. The competition categorizes publications by their circulation times and frequency.

For the Tribune, Christy Byerly, Tonya Mildenberg and Steve Insalaco finished as finalists for the Best Paid Ad Series (Color); Byerly and Mildenberg received accolades in Best Special Section; Byerly and Heather Straube are up for two awards for Best Online Ad – Static; Byerly and Erik Maurer are each up for an award in Best Online Ad – Animated; and Byerly and Maurer can win for Best Newspaper Promotion Ad, Series or Section.

AFN employees up for awards include Byerly and Karen Mays for Best Color Ad; Holli Roach and Laura Meehan for Most Effective Use of Small Space; Byerly and Elaine Cota for Best Online Ad – Static; and Roach again for Best Newspaper Promotion Ad, Series or Section.

ANA will announce the placement of the top three winners in advertising on Sept. 19.
