Whether you’re an elite cyclist or simply like to tool around the neighborhood on your beach cruiser, CycloMesa is for you.

The two-day festival partners with the El Tour de Mesa major U.S. cycling event — tearing through Mesa this weekend — to celebrate everything wonderful about time spent on two wheels.

Things kick off with Friday night’s El Tour Criterium, a fast and furious .9-mile race that has pro’s and amateurs racing handlebar-to-handlebar through downtown. Spectators are invited to watch the action amid a block party that features live music by Grieves and four other bands, food vendors and a beer garden.

Saturday’s family friendly festivities take place at the start/finish line of the El Tour de Mesa 70-mile race. Ride your bike to the event, and a free valet service will take care of your ride while you explore, watch El Tour finishers zip across the line, and enjoy these attractions:

Extreme Sports Zone

Zip-line, bungee trampoline, rock climb and try other adrenaline-pumping sports, free.

Bike to the Future Rodeo

Be one of the first 500 on the scene at this event geared toward kids and families, and you’ll receive a free helmet — after learning the ins and outs of bike safety on a special course.

Custom Bicycle Competition

Vote for locals who have either modified their bike or built their inventive two-wheeler from scratch.

Kids Zone and Splash Zone

Get your slip and slide on as you fly down inflatable water slides. There are also dry inflatables and a Radio Disney stage with giveaways (like One Direction concert tickets).

Adult Fun Zone

Tailgate with a cold one in this beer garden complete with cornhole and ladder ball games, giant Jenga, and deejay-provided tunes.

BMX Stunt Show

Professional athletes and former X Games champs will fly over the crowd at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. live shows full of air stunts, ramp jumps and half pipe action.

Food Truck Alley

Vendors serve everything from barbecue and po-boy sandwiches to Mexican food and fresh, hot fry bread.
