A team of a dozen Arizona Humane Society staff members armed with shelter, rescue and a full hospital’s worth of medical supplies departed for Show Low this week to assist in animal welfare efforts in light of the Wallow fire.

The emergency shelter team, in partnership with the Show Low Police Department and Show Low Animal Care, have established a small animal shelter in Show Low for the evacuated community members who do not have a place to take their pets.

In the event that animals are in need of medical treatment, the emergency medical team includes a veterinarian and multiple veterinary technicians.

Daily updates on Arizona Humane Society’s Wallow wildfire efforts can be found on www.azhumane.org, Facebook or Twitter.
