Radio students at the East Valley Institute of Technology will sign on to their new live radio station for the first time in January at the EVIT Expo.

The Federal Communications Commission awarded EVIT with a construction permit for a full-powered community FM radio transmitter and tower earlier this year, and construction is set to begin this month. The students will go live on the air at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at the event.

Students currently broadcast across the EVIT campus and online, but this is the first time the radio will be heard across the East Valley. Programming will showcase a high school sports report, live game play-by-play, a local music show, and occasional talk shows about current topics of interest.
