Fuel costs bump up by 3 cents

Another week, another increase in fuel costs for Arizona and national drivers.

Arizona motorists paid an average of $3.366, which marked a 3-cent increase from the week prior. Tucson paid the lowest rate at $3.271, while Flagstaff was at the highest at $3.499 a gallon. The national average increased also jumped by 3 cents to $3.504 per gallon.

Triple-A spokesperson Linda Gorman attributes the increase to seasonal refinery maintenance, and expects the price to peak over the next month as refineries begin to produce their summer-blend gasoline. She also notes the cost is 10-percent less than at the same time last year.
