Creating art for a cause

Desert Vista ceramics teacher Mark Honaker's students produced more than 430 bowls to benefit Tempe Empty Bowls.

Listen to live music while browsing a selection of hand-crafted bowls, pots, mugs, necklaces, platters and vases made by local artists and students, during this annual charity sale, Feb. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the courtyard at Tempe Library Complex.

For a $10 donation, attendees receive a bowl of hot soup and a hand-crafted bowl of your choice.

Organizations involved with the event include Whole Foods Market, The City of Tempe, Marjon Ceramics, Laguna Clay Company, Printing Specialists, Diggs’ Logo Products, Tempe Elementary School District, Tempe Union High School District, Randy Olson & Friends, and Walt Richardson. Last year, the event raised more than $14,000.

The Tempe Library Complex is located at 3500 S. Rural Road, on the southwest corner of Rural and Southern.
