Professor Paul Bender, who teaches constitutional law at Arizona State University, will speak May 25 about Arizona’s current redistricting process at a meeting of the Sun City Grand Democrats.

Redistricting is scheduled to be in place for the 2012 election.

Bender recently appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court to argue an Arizona case related to undocumented workers. In his career, he has argued more than 20 cases before the high court mostly in the areas of civil rights, free speech, and race and sex discrimination.

Bender practiced law and was clerk to Federal Circuit Judge Learned Hand and to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter. He came to ASU as dean of the Law School in 1984 after serving on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania’s Law School. He serves as a legal analyst for Phoenix public television station KAET.

The meeting will begin with coffee and cookies at 6 p.m., and the general meeting starts at 6:30.

The meeting is at the Cimarron Center, Agua Fria Room, in Sun City Grand. For information, go to or call Joe at 623-374-3568.
