More than 200 bidders were present at the first auction that featured fixtures and baseball memorabilia from Scottsdale’s famed Pink Pony Steakhouse and Saloon, once dubbed “The Best Baseball Bar in America” on Sunday.

Overall, there were about 650 registered bidders for the auction at the Antique Centre, 2012 N. Scottsdale Road, that also featured items from the estate of actor Charles Boyer and raised at least $104,054 from the hammer price for 223 listed items.

Among the items sold from the Pink Pony were a copper moonshne still Charlie Briley brought from his hometown of Scottsville, Ky., that sold for $350; three wooden Ernest and Julio Gallo wine barrels for $425; an antique slant-top oak desk for $200; and a grandfather clock for $250.

An autographed, game-worn Randy Johnson jersey that hung in the Pink Pony sold for $300, while a baseball park print signed by Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams sold for $300. A collage of photographs signed by former Arizona Diamondbacks players Luis Gonzalez, Matt Williams and Travis Lee sold for $100.

The high-price item of the auction was a 1907 Reed and Barton Francis 221-piece sterling silver flatware set from Boyer’s estate that sold for $6,200, plus a platinum diamond earring set with 148 round diamonds that went for $4,000. A slipper chair that Boyer upholstered himself went for $900.

Although there were just a handful of items from the Pink Pony sold on Sunday, a second auction will be held at the Antique Centre featuring a larger amount of the baseball memorabilia from the restaurant owned together by Gwen Briley and her husband, the late Charlie Briley, for 60 years. That auction will begin at 11 a.m. on Sept. 4.
