Amy Bartko knows that moms everywhere should know what options are out there for their children when looking for preschools, day cares or summer camps.

Bartko, as president of the Ahwatukee East chapter of MOMS (Moms Offering Moms Support) Club, helped organize an event, Preschool and Summer Camp Open House, from 9 a.m. to noon March 7 at the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA, 1030 E. Liberty Lane.

There will be 21 businesses and organizations on hand to talk about the services they offer for both preschool and summer camps.

“There is definitely a huge need for (an event like this),” Bartko said. “Being a mom myself, I know there are so many options and not a lot of people are familiar with who is open (during the summer) and what to do with their kids.”

Such organizations include Desert Garden Montessori, Music Makers Workshop, the Kyrene School District, and Dance Studio 111.

“To be able to go to one place and get all this information right from the organizations themselves is huge,” Bartko said. “Moms look for a summer camp that is of interest to their child and is educational as well. There are a lot of options and some moms just don’t know what is out there.”

The MOMS Club is a place for at-home moms to get together for support and to share information. The group also does a range of fundraisers to help organizations such as Adopt a Family, Transportation Day, Mother to Mother donations, blanketing the homeless, and Bunco for Breast Cancer.

“We are moms supporting other moms, but we also do stuff like this to help other people,” Bartko said.
