Celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. in Gilbert, where a free ceremony will feature speaker Calvin Terrell, along with entertainment by local choirs, a Youth Art Competition and Exhibit, and sponsor/exhibitor booths.

Terrell is founder of Social Centric, an organization that provides education and training for all ages to enhance human interactions and global progress. He has taught for Upward Bound at Arizona State University and the Arizona National Guard’s Freedom Academy, and provided justice seminars for Harpo Inc., Oprah Winfrey’s production company. His honors include the City of Phoenix Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” Award for his dedication to human rights.

The art show and vendor booths open at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20. The ceremony is 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Both events are at Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert. For information, call (480) 503-6200 or visit GilbertAZ.gov.
