This photo shows the Picket Post Mansion during construction in the 1920s. The mysterious house got the nickname ‘Castle on the Rock’ for its location in the mountains outside of Superior.
The Picket Post Mansion cast an impressive profile along the hills near Superior when it was completed in the 1920s. The house will be open for tours on Saturday.
William Boyce Thompson was a wealthy stock trader and mine owner in the early part of the 1900s.
