Mountain Pointe senior Kevin Cron was the named the Class 5A Division I Player of the Year by the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association.

The Texas Christian recruit hit .560 with 27 home runs and 65 RBIs and went 8-1 on the mound with a 2.15 ERA.

The Pride's first state title garnered many of the team some recognition as first baseman Joey Curletta and Anthony Balderrama, as a utility player, were named to the first team.

Scott Kingery was named the second-team second baseman and Jordan Kipper made it as a second-team pitcher.

Desert Vista senior Shaun Chase was named the second team catcher.

The Mountain Pointe field was recognized as the best in 5A-I as well.
