Summer officially begins June 21, but Chandler hosts a wet welcome to the season at this weekend’s Summer Splash Festival.

The fourth annual event features five inflatable water attractions for kids, plus a BubbleMania area, Kiddie Splash Zone and a video arcade on wheels. More diversions include train rides, live entertainment by dance, karate and gymnastics troupes, and appearances by characters from “The Little Mermaid” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Fire and police vehicles will also be on display.

While tots splash, parents and the family dog will find shady areas to stay cool, including a misted Family Chill Zone and an area dubbed PetaPOOLooza.

Food and drink vendors will be on site, and Aqua Tots Swim Schools will provide water safety instruction.
