It’s No. 135 on the 2012 Fortune 500 list of America’s largest corporations, and it’s entering the new year with a host of jobs open throughout its home state of Arizona.

Valley-based Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold, billed as the world’s largest publicly-traded copper producer, is hosting a mining job fair Thursday, Jan. 3 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Gold Canyon.

Among the many positions available in Arizona: accountant, buyer, chemist, mineral processing engineers, civil engineer, machinist, process engineer, supply chain lead, compliance specialist, quality engineer, health and safety specialist, and more. The Gold Canyon Resort, 6100 S. Kings Ranch Road, will host the event, and potential applicants are asked to pre-register at www.fcxevents.com.

One of the firm’s most prominent local projects continues in Miami, located off U.S. 60 near globe, about an hour outside the East Valley. In addition to the openings Freeport will attempt to fill at the upcoming job fair, as well as those on its website (www.fcx.com/careers), two positions located in Miami — smelter maintenance supervisor and diagnostic electrician — are currently listed at YourAZJobs.com.

YourAZJobs.com is the East Valley Tribune’s new home — and your newest resource — for full- and part-time opportunities available now from a host of local industries and companies.

Western Air International in Gilbert is currently looking for an accountant/bookkeeper, while numerous opportunities from Marriott (Gilbert), Coca-Cola (Tempe, Valley-wide), PepsiCo (Phoenix), and Ken Meade Realty (Sun City) — in addition to thousands more — are currently available at YourAZJobs.com.

To find any of the positions listed above, enter your city, the number of miles you’re OK with for a commute and the topics or company names into the fields given.
