A 16-year-old Peoria girl has been reported missing, police said Tuesday morning.

According to police, the mother of Shelby Lynn Hayes reported her missing Monday when she found out her daughter did not show up for classes at high school or a beauty trade school.

It is believed she may be traveling in the company of an ex-boyfriend, 18-year-old Joseph Anthony McNally, police said. The mother has a valid order of protection prohibiting any contact between her daughter and McNally, police said.

Police also said they have information to believe the vehicle went through the Border Patrol checkpoint in Yuma last night.

Both Shelby Lynn Hayes as well as McNally’s vehicle, a charcoal gray 2001 Nissan Maxima bearing AZ ATZ1202, were entered into NCIC as missing/endangered, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Peoria police at

623-773-7045.
