The Maricopa Community Colleges governing board will vote on a $5 per credit hour, in-state tuition increase during its next meeting, March 22. The increase would bring tuition to $76 per credit hour.

After maintaining tuition at the same rate for two years, the district's administration recommended a tuition increase in light of continued budget cuts from the state and increased enrollment.

If approved, tuition for an in-state student taking 30 credit hours per year would be $2,280. About $12.5 million in revenues would be raised.

The board will also see a preliminary budget for the 2011-12 school year during the meeting.
