In 1993, a man encountered a red-tailed Hawk in Central Park. A wild predator that had not lived in New York City for 100 years, the bird soon became the most famous father in the city, raising his young atop a posh Fifth Avenue high-rise in the gaze of millions of urban onlookers.
The hawk was introduced to the wider world in the 2002 film “Pale Male.” In 2009, the famous raptor returned in “The Legend of Pale Male.”
That award-winning movie will play on the big screen at Audubon Arizona’s Nature Film Festival, taking place Wednesday in Scottsdale. The ninth annual event will screen “Hummingbirds: Magic in the Air” as its second feature.
Along with the movies, you’ll get a “picnic” supper to eat in your seat, popcorn and the chance to bid on items (art, jewelry, travel packages) in a silent auction.
