The westbound lanes of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed this weekend, which will require some attendees of the Chandler Ostrich Festival to use detours when leaving the event. The freeway's westbound lanes will close from Loop 101 to Interstate 10 from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The closure should not impact those traveling to the event at Tumbleweed Park, near McQueen and Germann roads. However, drivers who want to head west after leaving the festival will need to use detours such as going north on McQueen Road or Arizona Avenue. From there, drivers can use Ray Road or Chandler Boulevard.
The closure allows work to advance on 12 miles of carpool lanes being built between I-10 and Gilbert Road.
Also this weekend in Chandler, southbound Price Road is closed between Frye Road and the Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday. Northbound Price Road is narrowed to one lane at Loop 202.
