ASU students who use public transportation and the school’s U-Pass will pay nearly double next year.

Next year’s pass will cost students $150 versus the $80 they pay this year. A typical student pass from Valley Metro costs $390, so students are receiving a discount, according to ASU’s Parking and Transit Services.

The U-Pass offers unlimited transit for Arizona State Universities students on the Metro light rail, as well as Valley Metro bus routes. ASU’s website states the program is self-funded and each year the transit fee has to be renegotiated.

Passes will be available for purchase Aug. 1 and are good for unlimited rides Aug. 16 through May 15. For more information, see http://parking.asu.edu.
