Tempe's Changing Hands opens another ‘real’ bookstore in Valley

In an age in which people have decried the death of the printed page for years — and Ahwatukee’s Barnes & Noble has announced its closing on Aug. 2 — beloved local, “real” bookstore Changing Hands has opened a second location. That’s right — another shop, full of real books, printed and bound on actual paper, is here.

After a decade of dreaming, years of planning and raising money via a crowdfunding campaign, Changing Hands Bookstore — and First Draft, an on-site coffee, wine and beer bar — is open at 300 W. Camelback Road in central Phoenix.

A grand opening celebration is being planned for later this summer, along with a calendar of author events. For information, call (602) 274-0067 or visit ChangingHands.com.
