Local author Jaclyn Douma has been named the winner of the Real Women of Philadelphia Contest, hosted by Paula Deen and the Women of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese is hosting a competition for all women to submit an original recipe to win $500 and a chance to be featured in the "Real Women of Philadelphia Season Two Cookbook."

Douma's original recipe for "One Maple Bar, Please" won for last week's Make to Impress Desserts contest. Five winners were chosen for the week and Douma was one of them.

Douma is an author of "Our First Year: Cost Effective Recipes for the Home of Newlyweds," a cookbook containing a collection of her own recipes specifically designed with couples in mind. Douma's dream of providing a useful tool in the kitchen, as well as passing along recipes of her own on a newlywed budget, has finally come true.

Douma's book is being published by Tate Publishing and the official release day is Oct. 11. It is currently being sold online at www.a-sugarnspice-life.com and can be purchased locally at Expressions Boutique in Ahwatukee and Chaparral Homemade Ice Cream in Wickenburg, Ariz.
