A parishioner-led campaign brought in more than 22 boxes of much needed art supplies for students at St. Mary School in Joplin, Mo., after the school was completely destroyed by the tornado that struck that city in May.

St. Mary's was in need of any and all supplies in order to start the school year on solid ground.

Ahwatukee resident and St. Benedict parishioner, Joyce Petrowski, led a parish-wide drive to get the supplies for St. Mary's. Working with parish staff, Petrowski communicated the needs of the St. Mary's students to the parish at St. Benedict and asked for help.

In turn, the community responded in full force. In a few short weeks, more than 22 boxes of supplies were collected and shipped to Joplin.
