Mayor Scott Smith, members of the Mesa City Council and HandsOn Greater Phoenix will host Love Your Block on March 22 at 8 a.m.

Love Your Block will paint the exterior of Mesa resident’s home Carlota, who has lived in her home for more than 28 years. She faces physical and financial limitations while helping raise her grandchild.

Volunteers are needed in Mesa to assist with a variety of activities including: Volunteer-based reporting of graffiti in neighborhoods for removal, clean up and debris removal for alleys, canals, easements, landscaping clean up for residents in need and exterior home painting. The event serves residents who are physically and financially unable to complete the work on their own, as well as painting of common neighborhood areas, which can include walls, bridges and community park structures.

Mesa received a $25,000 grant that will support the revitalization of more than 12 communities by removing 10,000 pounds of waste, removing graffiti and painting the home exteriors of residents in need.

For more information or to volunteer, visit www.mesaaz.gov/lyb.
