East Valley residents who own property near or in the Wallow fire area are advised to seek flood insurance in light of the current disaster.

Wildfire alters the landscape in ways that increase runoff from burned areas. To help cope with potential floods, homeowners near the areas impacted by the Wallow fire should know that most homeowners’ insurance policies do not cover flood damage. Homeowners can contact National Flood Insurance Program referral center at (888) 379-9531 or see http://www.fema.gov/business/nfip for more information.
