Does this story sound familiar: You frequent a Valley restaurant, rave about the food and ambience to family and friends, but wish you could recommend that experience to the masses?

Some websites register users to recommend restaurants through social media, though, let’s be honest, your review may well find itself lost among the hundreds of others.

Channel 8 has the answer, and tonight a West Valley restaurant will find out what some diners think of it.

Vogue Bistro in Surprise will be one of the restaurants reviewed on “Check, Please!,” which is now in its second season on PBS. James Beard award-winning chef Robert McGrath hosts the half-hour program, which includes a different panel of diners each week who review each other’s recommended restaurants. The show airs at 7 p.m. Thursdays and again at 12:30 p.m. Saturdays.

A segment of this week’s “Check, Please!” will focus on Vogue Bistro, which features starters such as foie gras cooked in cognac with sweet fig-apple compote on brioche toast, as well as a plate of Burgundian escargot baked in a puffy pastry with herb garlic butter.

Chef Aurore de Beauduy cooks up a highly recommended Steak Vogue, a Black Angus hangar cut steak cooked with brandied peppercorn sauce and served with crispy fries, as well as duck confit that’s served with pan-fried potatoes, greens and date vinaigrette.

The menu also features American fare, including burgers, meatloaf, lasagna and Alaskan salmon, which can be enjoyed by those resistant to French cuisine.

General manager and owner Roman Yasinsky will appear on this week’s show and discuss Vogue Bistro’s concept and approach to fine dining and service.

“This is a great opportunity to talk about how different and what a value Vogue Bistro is to the community,” Yasinsky said.

Yasinsky said Vogue Bistro’s selling point is its chef-driven modern menu — which changes daily and can be enjoyed with those of refined tastes or who simply enjoy American standards — and its laid back, metropolitan feel.

With guaranteed exposure, Yasinsky hopes Vogue Bistro’s segment on “Check, Please!” shows foodies that fine dining isn’t just found in Phoenix and Scottsdale and that the West Valley, and more importantly Surprise, can serve up something special.

“I’m proud of what we have to offer, and am hoping the show provides an invitation to the public to check us out,” Yasinsky said.

Vogue Bistro is at 15411 W. Waddell Road, Suite 108. Information: 623-544-9109 and
