Three seventh- and eighth-grade students from Payne Junior High School in the Chandler Unified School District were honored for their creative writing talents by the Arizona Education Foundation in the 2014 Polly Rosenbaum Writing Contest.

Kaylee Ivie, Jin Ni and Maya Mortensen won first, second and third place respectively for their creative writing piece on the topic “How Can Technology Enhance Your Ability to be a Better Citizen?”

The students were honored during Arizona’s 102nd Statehood Day Celebration at the State Capitol and were recognized by Secretary of State Ken Bennett and Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal.
