Following the recent tragedy of Japan, a group of 6th graders decided to take action. After setting up a page on Facebook, urging people to donate, and reminding friends to visit, they made $125 dollars. Deciding to do more, they created a lemonade stand that sold candy, lemonade, iced tea, and cookies. After setting up early on Saturday, March 19, at Club West Park, the volunteers spent six hours out in the sun, collecting money for the Red Cross Foundation. Instead of naming a price, the group decided to accept any amount of donations. After being open all day on Saturday, the stand raised $286 dollars. Special thanks go out to Parker Jackson, Lisa Jackson, Daisy Mason, Elizabeth Beeks, and Cait Campbell. To donate, visit www.redcross.org, or the official page on Facebook, "Take a Stand for Japan" to find out when the lemonade stand will be in an area close to you.
