Due to the generosity of the community, volunteers from the Ahwatukee Recreation Center were able to assemble 94 care boxes for those serving overseas in the United States military.

The care boxes included sanitizers, lotions, sun block, playing cards, snack bars, nuts, candy and sunflowers seeds. Every box also included a large bag of beef jerky and a box of Girl Scout cookies. The boxes will be delivered to our service men and women through the cooperation of Luke Air Base.

Volunteers were Sam Grover, Su Sallee Perkins, Fritz Murrell, Dee Murrell, LaVern Kidd, Barb LeChaix, Rosemary Schiltz, Lauretta Carlson, Mary Lynne Reeves, Dan Smith, June and Phil Sherwin, Sharon Gottlieb and Bill Shestko.

If you have a family member serving overseas and would like to be part of this program, the ARC would be happy to send a care package with its Christmas packaging effort schedule in November. Please contact Amy Nicholls at (480) 893-2549 or amyn@qwestoffice.net.
