A group of British citizens in their golden years book passage to India and stay at a hotel depicted on the Internet as an ideal retirement community. As they work toward adjusting to a new culture, these active adults are compelled to confront their pasts, and ultimately find peace and revitalize their lives. The performances of Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkenson, and Dev Patel are charming and inspirational.
