I have a pamphlet here on my desk, touting the need for continuing an existing Kyrene School District Capital Override: "The primary purpose of the Capital Override is to support the nationally-recognized instructional technology program."

Huh?

The United States is currently tied for highest expenditures (world-wide) for education at 5.6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). For that glorious expenditure we rank 14th in reading, 17th in science, and 25th in math.

Isn't it about time we start receiving some value in return for our largesse?

I urge everyone to vote no on this continuation. It's time that we demand results from our education system.

We also need to do away with allowing special election dates ... all voting should only be on the general election date to ensure that more voters are aware of these taxing sleights-of-hand.
