When Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword the Friendly Pirate are as near and dear in your household as flesh-and-blood relatives, you’ve definitely got a case of The Wiggles — as in, the Australian music group popular among families with young kids.

The quartet comes July 24 to the Valley to say goodbye; performers Murray Cook (Red), Greg Page (Yellow) and Jeff Fatt (Purple) will be hanging up their colorful “skivvies” after a 21-year career that’s produced a catalogue of music, television, film and apps.

Known for songs that are entertaining and educational, the show makes a good first concert for children or grandchildren, who are encouraged to sing, clap and dance in the aisles. Concert reviewers at LiveNation.com give the band’s live performances an overwhelming number of 4- and 5-star ratings.

And if your youngsters get hooked, fear not: After the farewell tour, The Wiggles will shimmy on with veteran “Blue” Wiggle Anthony Feld and a new generation of talent in the roles of Red, Yellow and Purple.

DETAILS >> 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 24. Comerica Theatre, 400 W. Washington St., Phoenix. $18.50-$95. (602) 379-2888 or www.livenation.com.
