Recordings fill vital need
Wyla Hohn helps record the week’s news with Cathy Holler, right, as they assemble the Sun City Talking News’ cassettes. They work on the recordings Wednesday and Thursday morning to get many of the tapes to their subscribers by Friday.
Al and Janet Werner say the Sun City Talking News service helps them connect with news they otherwise might miss. Al is legally blind and can’t see more than the headlines in a newspaper. The Talking News takes local news from area papers and records them to cassette tapes, allowing those with sight disabilities to learn the news.
Cathy Holler, left, and Judy Peterson package cassette tapes to be sent to the Sun City Talking News Service subscribers. The service records local news to cassette tapes for those with sight impairments.
