Scottsdale City Councilwoman Lisa Borowsky has filed paperwork to join the race for Congressional District 9.

Borowsky, a Republican, released a statement vowing to repeal ObamaCare, get Arizona back to work and stop reckless spending in Washington.

“For too long career politicians in Washington have failed to take the necessary measures to get our economy back on track,” Borowsky said. “Our national debt is approaching $16 trillion and unemployment in Arizona remains around 8.7 percent. That is simply unacceptable. Once elected, I will fight to repeal ObamaCare, stop reckless spending and fix our economy.”

Borowsky is the owner of Borowsky Law Group and recently became a partner at Davis Miles McGuire Gardner PLLC.

She was elected to Scottsdale City Council in 2008. Borowsky has a background in real estate, real estate law, civil litigation and serves regularly as a court appointed arbitrator.

“While on the Scottsdale City Council, I voted to cut spending and reduce taxes, and I plan to take my record of fiscal responsibility to Washington,” Borowsky said in her statement. “I have worked hard to attract new businesses to our area and reduce the red tape that stifles job growth and will continue this fight in Congress.”

Borowsky is a native of the Valley and is currently a resident of Scottsdale. She is one of seven Republicans vying for the office. Other Republicans include Travis Grantham, Vernon Parker, Wendy Rogers, Martin Sepulveda, Leah Campos Schandlbauer and Jeff Thompson. Three Democrats are running for the office: Andrei Cherny, David Schapira and Kyrsten Sinema.
