The School of Ballet Arizona has a new scholarship for young male dancers, in honor of famed dancer and former pupil of the school, David Hallberg.

Hallberg is currently a Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre in New York City, as well as a Premiere Dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. Hallberg said in a statement that he hopes the scholarship will foster more passion for dancing.

“It is never easy to have the courage or the means to find your calling in ballet as a young boy,” he said.

The scholarship will cover one year’s worth of tuition and supplies for one or more boys, age 13 and older.

Beginning June 1, male dancers can fill out the application and schedule an audition by calling the School of Ballet Arizona at (602) 381-0188.
