The City of Phoenix is hosting a meeting to gather comments and input to prepare for the 2012-13 Annual Action Plan component of the Consolidated Plan, a one-year plan that shows the city's proposed use of four types of federal funding:

  • Community Development Block Grant Funds (CDBG)
  • Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)
  • Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)
  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)

The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 8, at Phoenix City Hall Assembly Room A, 200 W. Washington St.

Anyone who cannot attend the meeting may share comments by emailing or calling (602) 256-3302.

Examples of ongoing federally funded city programs include housing rehab, homelessness prevention and homeless services, small business assistance, blight elimination, neighborhood revitalization, infrastructure, child care, job training, senior services, infill housing, homeownership, fair housing, special needs services and supportive housing.

Public input is especially vital this year to help identify community needs and programs that the city of Phoenix should maintain as federal funding diminishes. Cutbacks are anticipated for these programs as Congress works on self-imposed mandates to reduce the national debt over the next 10 years.
