Hang around the Valley long enough, and you’re bound to encounter the work of Mesa artist Zarco Guerrero. From public art installations to stage plays to performances at festivals, the longtime Mesa artist is prolific.

He’ll share one of the art forms he’s best at — mask making — in a workshop 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at his Alma School Road studio.

Guerrero, a fixture of the Valley art scene since the 1970s, is well known for his “faces” made of wood and other materials. In 1984, PBS broadcast nationally “The Mask of El Zarco,” a one-hour documentary about his art.

The cost for the hands-on workshop is $40 per person and covers all materials. To reserve your space, email Guerrero at zarco@zarkmask.com or message him on Facebook.com/zarco.guerrero.

More workshops are planned throughout the year; for updates, visit ZarcosBlog.blogspot.com.
