Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World’s Spring Fishing Classic is Feb. 22 through March 10. Basically a big show and sale of fishing gear, two highlights are catching our eye: first, a “Tips For Fishing Saguaro Lake” seminar and, second, a full weekend of fun for children.
The session on Saguaro Lake, located just minutes north of Mesa, will be led by local experts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Mesa store.
The “Next Generation” Weekend for kids, held March 9-10, includes a catch-and-release pond stocked with real fish noon to 4 p.m. each day. Kids get a free 4-inch-by-6-inch photo of themselves with their catch and a certificate.
There are also kid-geared seminars on “The Fun of Fishing” (1 p.m.) and “Baits for Bites” (3 p.m.), and free crafts 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The first 150 kids to get their “Next Generation” Card punched for completing all the activities will receive a free flashing wrist band.
